Google uses its algorithm to give you the top 10 search results based on your web history, search intent and page rank, followed by many more pages of results.
For any person or company who wants to be found online, getting your website to appear on that first page of results of a Google search results is the Holy Grail.
The good news is that YOU can totally do this. But I’m not saying it will be easy!
Just like anything else worth pursuing, it will take time to achieve a top-10 ranking on that highly coveted first page of Google search results, which is where 96% of clicks occur on Google.
I’ve combined my own experiences with many hours of research to present the best information possible in this Google Search Engine Optimization Guide.

A person enters the keyword or phrase into the Google search box.
Google analyzes pages on the web and selects the top results for keyword or phrase being searched, using its search engine algorithms to determine how to rank the results.
The person who searched sees the top 10 websites on the first page of results from Google for the search terms entered.
These search results are filtered dependent on:
- Search query entered
- Search history
Search Engine Optimization has changed completely due to Google’s algorithm changes. Google changed their algorithm 800 times last year.
An example of how SEO has changed is, 2 people can be in the same office searching the same keyword and get completely different results.

Google Search engine optimization (SEO) is the art and science of increasing traffic to a website by helping it rank higher in organic (meaning non-paid) search results.

Here are the proven strategies for Google’s Search Engine Optimization that will get you the results you want.
Step 1: Writing your Content for the Search Engines
Search engine issue #1: Content confusion with Google search intent. Most people just don’t understand how search works. The way their content is written does not match the intent of the person who searched. How do you get search engines to understand what your website is about?
Here’s what you do:

You have to write your content to match up to the way people are searching for it! Think about your content as an answer to a question for someone who is searching.
Before writing my content here’s what I do:
- I use SEMRush.com to conduct Keyword Research Gap analysis against my competitors.
2. Then, I figure out my focus keyword, that matches what I want to write about.
3. After that, I find variants or similar phrases (synonyms) that will help describe my focus keyword.
Here are the keywords and SEO strategy for my home page.
As you can see from the image above. My focus keyword is “digital marketing expert”.
My goal is to make myself the subject matter expert as a digital marketer. As you can see from this article, I am teaching “how to become a digital marketing expert“.
So, I want to use “how to become a digital marketing expert” so when Google crawls my site it is clear that I am the digital marketing expert that will teach digital marketing techniques to people who want to become digital marketers.
Now, let’s move on to the next Google Search Optimization technique.
Step 2: Fixing website speed
Search engine issue #2: Mobile sites takes 22 seconds to load. According to Google’s latest research, the time it takes to load the average mobile landing page is 22 seconds. Over 53% of website visits are abandoned if a mobile site takes longer than three seconds to load!

Now onto the fun part. Figuring out what your competitors are doing to rank on the first page of Google.
Step 3: Analyzing Your Competitors
If you’re not analyzing your competitors for your top keyword phrases, you’re missing out on vital information crucial to your success. Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve, someone else has probably already done it.
Search engine issue #3: Not knowing what works. Find the top 3 sites in a search on your main keywords and copy what they’re doing! They’ve already achieved what you want, so use them as a model for what you need to be doing with your SEO efforts.
After all, why re-invent the wheel?
Figure out what Google likes and do more of it, without letting your content feel forced or spammy.
So here is how it is done..
Search engine solution #3: Use SEOToolSet.com software. Do keyword research and find your top 3 keyword phrases.
Search on Google and use the Multipage analyzer to see how frequent your competitors use the keyword in the meta title, meta description, meta keyword, headings, alt text, and first 200 words.

Step 4: Optimizing your content for the Google Search Engine
When someone is searching on Google, they have a specific intent for searching.
Google uses its algorithms and spiders to call up related pages from the web.
Then it ranks the pages to determine who is a subject matter expert for that keyword or phrase.
This could be you!
But if you’re confused about the main purpose of your website, chances are good that Google will feel the same way about it and achieving that top-10 ranking will exclude you.
There’s no substitute for being crystal clear about the purpose and intent of your website so that Google can match it up with searches whose intent is to find information like yours.
Search engine issue #4: Confusion between providing information or selling products and services.
Search engine solution #4: What is your website about? Is your website an informational site? Or is your website focused on selling products or services? Get clear about this and write your content to match the intent. Here is a tool I use that helps me answer questions that the search query intent is asking. When someone searches on Google, they are looking for answers to their questions.

Let’s use you as an example. If you found my site through Google Search you probably typed in something like “how to google search optimization.”

Step 6: Understanding behavior on your website through Google Analytics
Search engine issue #6: You know what they say, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” In Search Engine Optimization measurement is critical to success. Most SEO’s and companies just don’t know what key performance indicators to measure when looking at Google Analytics.
Most SEO companies will give their Clients crazy reports that they simply don’t understand.
Below you will see the basics of how many unique users visited your website within the time frame you select.
You will also see the bounce rate and session duration.
Now let me simplify the information you see below.
Search engine solution #6: User is simple. It is the number of unique users that visited your site within a given time.
Google Analytics gives you the ability to change the number of days so you can compare your website traffic.
Then, in the next column is bounce rate. According to SEOHermit.com, “Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors that open a website and leave before spending an amount of time that is deemed significant by the Google search engine.”
